Did you know that most cases of high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease are due to lifestyle?
Just because your father and grandfather both died of heart attacks at age 59 does not mean that you have to.
Lifestyle medicine means getting to the root cause of disease to potentially reverse it.
Lifestyle Medicine in Pittsburgh is growing! Our intensive lifestyle program can help you start feeling like yourself again.
With Dr. Dougherty's help, you can make better choices to get your health back in order.
With focus on a whole-food, plant-based diet.
Increasing activity naturally and safely.
Taking time for yourself and your loved ones.
Clinical research overwhelmingly provides evidence for the preferential use of lifestyle interventions as first-line therapy for MANY medical conditions. This research moves lifestyle from an intervention used to prevent disease to an intervention used to TREAT AND EVEN REVERSE disease.
Intensive, physician-mediated education and coaching on nutrition, physical activity and stress management is the mainstay of lifestyle intervention. My aim is to empower my patients to make the changes necessary to heal themselves.
Disease that can often be successfully treated include obesity, diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease, high cholesterol, and peripheral vascular disease. Others have shown improvement in disorders such as fibromyalgia, anxiety and depression, insomnia, and autoimmune diseases.
